Building a High Performance Workplace

An organization cannot expand to its full potential unless its work force has the knowledge, skills and motivation to their jobs in the best possible ways. In order to do this, the work system must be designed to support organizational action plans, and to facilitate individual motivation and responsibility. The work force must be provided with the training necessary to perform their role as well as possible and compensation and rewards systems should be designed to support excellent performance. Employee development should also support organizational action plans so that employees with the proper skills to accomplish those plans. Employees should also be afforded planned opportunities for advancement in their careers through that training and through other developmental activities. The knowledge and skills learned should be reinforced on the job to assure that they are properly being applied. Lastly it is important to maintain a work environment and work climate that supports the well being, satisfaction and motivation of employees.
